Maybe ignore the Chrome messages for now. If it was consuming too many
resources then you would have other issues. And looking at the Chrome
messages again, that seems more like a logic error or graphics driver
limitation than any resource exhaustion.

Certainly "MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple" will make it impossible
to hit "drmModeAtomicCommit: Invalid argument". And that error message
can mean the entire screen failed to update in some cases.
