I have an nvidia card and the one-liner patch worked fine. I applied it later to the unity version in proposed (4.24) as well. Thank you for that! I used the nvidia-settings tool, set up twinview and selected my screen on the right hand side to be primary. I saved it the xorg.conf, restarted and worked. Applying the settings without saving the xorg.conf and restart does not work because of bug #864784
