Ok, I understand now. When you insert an Audio CD with rhythmbox open, it should show a Devices> section on the left with the CD, as show in my screenshot. I assume it is not doing this? Sorry to keep asking, but once this is all determined I can refer this bug to the relevant people at GNOME (who make this).
