my comments are similar to bug #28805 - I agree that just adding scrollbars is not a preferred solution. I believe the default layout could be changed to be more horizontal by adding another column(s) on the right side and moving approprite fields to the new columns. i.e. Moving "Instant Messaging'" section in Contacts tab to the right instead of bottom.
Seb, need your guidance/opinion on how to best do it. Modifying the glade file would be the easiest, and I think the changes are applicable regardless of screen size as a horizontal layout works fine in general.
