I've addressed the raised issues in the upstream. And made few changes
in the package as well (haven't pushed the code yet).
Lintian currently showing following issues
* newer-standards-version 4.7.0
* debian-watch-does-not-check-openpgp-signature
* prefer-uscan-symlink

Are these ignorable? And is there anything else I need to follow to do
the version update
   or can I create a fresh setup with only the new version?
They are of low priority and you can revisit them later. If you would like,
you can try to solve them following the text description you just saw
in that terminal output.

Please prepare a fresh setup with updated source code and version numbers so
that Debian Developers can review.

Thanks,
Boyuan Yang
I've pushed the latest setup to https://salsa.debian.org/anoop/fcitx5-varnam.
Kindly review at your convenience.

Thanks,
Anoop
