I believe 2006, when abnormal drafts like SPF/SenderID were created, was a major stain on the history of the IETF. On the contrary, 2007, when Domainkey/DKIM became established, was a happy year -- at least in my memory. DKIM does not hurt forwarding during the email delivery process.
