It is NOT just about whether a system breaks or not, there are more considerations involved here. Many don't want systemd for all sorts of reasons, system breakage or not is just one reason. systemd: - adds much more than init NOW; - aspires to add much more according to the developers website; - one of the main devs failed many with Pulse Audio; - one other main dev is refused kernel updates by Linus; & - production servers /may/ or may not be effected - this risk /may/ be too much, ... it really is a significant change after all. I'm sure there are many more reasons, but that's just a very quick dump for a quick email.
