I really couldn't tell you one good "primer" document. I've been doing storage systems for ~15 years. My knowledge base has built from many many sources over the years, all of it informal, self education (as with all things I do). What exactly are you looking for? Adaptec and LSI probably have some kind of primer docs on their web sites. And of course every vendor has installation documentation for each product. Reading those can help you learn basics.
