My complete xorg.conf is in my original email to this thread. A short discussion of my experience has just been posted. My experience has been that long ago I tried using xrandr and could not get aptitude to install it. I asked for help, and got what I have been using ever since. I have no emotional attachment to it, and the only thing I have ever complained about is the incorrect aspect ratio. My keyboard and mouse have never been a problem, but mention of them came in the file that I received. I have very little experience with locales and my personal preference is to use the old C language defaults rather than the cockamammy rules for USA. (I know these rules are standard here, but being a native born American, I just don't feel the need to conform.) That said, I see no reason to doubt lee's report of his experience. I rated the class of people for whom the current system works as 'almost everybody' based on my perceive lack of complaints on this list. Lee rates as 'almost nobody' based on his experience.
