This was done long ago. I think the only part of it that I actually still need is the line: Option "UseBIOS" "off" but I never had enough hand-holding from an expert to properly get rid of the cruft. It was given as an example of the syntax of xorg.conf so that OP might have some idea of what xorg.conf looks like in a text editor. For me, when I do a new install and the X screen shows a small ellipse, not circle, for the patience icon, I know to find this file somewhere in a backup and install it. On mostly I don't need it. But sometimes I do. Doing a reinstall never has fixed the problem, and I have grown tired of being told I shouldn't need it. Yes, I shouldn't need it. But sometimes I actually do need it. I look forward to the day when I actually never need it. I have faith in Debian. I do faith based system administration. I think I need something more than the single line, above. At a minimum, probably the whole Section "Device" in which it occurs. I welcome suggestions as to what can be removed.
