It has nothing to do with credibility. Xandros is not pure Debian. They have made significant modifications to their packages. And I don't mean this as a bad thing. The program you are trying to install expects the OS to behave in a certain way. But Xandros is not Debian and it will behave differently. The results are unpredictable. You are mixing apples with pears and expecting to get grape wine. Linux distros can be very different and packages built for one will not work for the other.
