Yes, in my case ls -l /etc/hotplug.d/usb total 4 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 535 2005-04-20 10:28 libsane.hotplug and ls -lR /proc/bus/usb/ /proc/bus/usb/: total 0 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2005-08-12 13:36 001 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2005-08-12 13:36 002 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2005-08-12 13:36 003 dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2005-08-12 13:36 004 -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 2005-08-12 13:36 devices /proc/bus/usb/001: total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 43 2005-08-13 07:27 001 /proc/bus/usb/002: total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 43 2005-08-13 07:27 001 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 57 2005-08-13 07:27 002 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 50 2005-08-13 07:27 003 /proc/bus/usb/003: total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 43 2005-08-13 07:27 001 /proc/bus/usb/004: total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 43 2005-08-13 07:27 001 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 50 2005-08-13 07:27 002 As far as I can tell, all here is owned by root, no scanner anywhere. Since I remembered doing something similar before, I had tried this solution before asking for help, so I had added myself to the scanner group, logged ut, back again, but nothing, still user can not use the scanner.
