My mistake. It's been a while since I paid much attention to Windows

Yes there is a "free" version of Eudora, BUT is has advertisements displayed.
Not particularly annoying ones though - and Eudora is in most respects a
considerably better and more powerful mail client than Outlook Express.
It's a bit clunky using IMAP, but it's still a lot better than Outlook Express
at this (which is easily the worst IMAP client I've ever used - Outlook does
it okay though).
So far, I've yet to come across a virus that takes control of Eudora (though
you can set it to use MS's HTML renderer for HTML mails, which
presumable allows viruses received with Eudora to commandeer Outlook
or Outlook Express?).
