Did you try to install cdcd ? Or try running xmms from an x-term to see if there is any error message? I think that /dev/cdrom should be a sym link to /dev/hdc and should have matching permissions and you will have to make it belong to the disk group too. Here is mine:
slamson@callerio:~$ l /dev/cdrom /dev/scd0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root cdrom 9 Oct 15 02:40 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/scd0 brw-rw---- 2 root cdrom 11, 0 Oct 11 01:20 /dev/scd0 (I use scsi emulation for cdrw that is why it is scd0, not hdc) other than that, I'm sorry I don't know what else to tell you. I would really try a simple cdplayer like cdplay or cdcd to see what they say about the situation when you run them. --- Bruce Park <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Shawn, > > Well, here's what I have so far. > <file/dir> <group> > /cdrom root > /dev/cdrom root > /dev/hdc disk > > I took the liberty to add myself to group disk.
