So, the next > time that you want to use Mozilla or Eclipse or whatever, it has > to be taken back out of swap, and put back in RAM. i understand that as well what i dont undrestand is how can i have to wait 10 seconds to close one file or tomcat runs out of memory in a computer with 700MB and the only aplications that are runing are a couple of xtrems,tomcat, eclipse,mysql,galeon and XMMS playing files that are as huge as about 3-4MB and this all this disapear automagically umounting the hd and throwing all that disk cache out off RAM There is no way to say linux not to use more cache than some amount?
