Package: apt-xapian-index
Version: 0.40
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

it is a good idea to also index source package names, for those packages
where it is different than the binary package name, both as a normal
term and with a prefix.

The extra index space used would likely be negligible.

Indexing it as a normal term would allow, for example, to find libfoo
also when the description does not mention foo. There can also be cases
of binary packages where the source package name is more widely
recognised than the binary package name.

Indexing it with a prefix would allow the index to be used as a fast way
to query source<->binary pakage mappings.

Ciao,

Enrico
