although I am not a member of the Debian Zope team, I can say this about the technical aspects, from my experience of working with Zope: * Older versions of Zope 2 up to 2.11.x absolutely require Python 2.4. * Newer versions of Zope 2, starting with 2.12, afair require Python 2.6. Also, Plone (very important for me) requires python-imaging for the corresponding Python version. I have private backported packages for 2.6 on Lenny which I could upload to eg. p.d.o, but not yet managed to create a corresponding python-imaging.
