I have just had a look into the source and found that the heartbeet beep is not related to the lid so the description in the man page is inaccurate and will be changed in the future. The heartbeat beep would be activated if pbbuttonsd was configured to switch off screen instead of entering sleep mode. You work via VNC which causes that pbbuttonsd receives neither keyboard nor mouse events and after awaiting the configured idle time it tries to enter sleep mode (or blank screen). After that the computer looks like switched off and the heartbeep beep was enabled. My recommendation: Please set HeartbeepBeep = no. I will correct the man page to make the mechanism clearer for the future. Best Regards Matthias
