You could try to use something like : 'video=atyfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED]', i.e. 'atyfb:<res>-<depth>@<freq>'. This works fine on a Powermac 6400 with a Mach64 adapter (console only, but used to work with X also). I was thinking at the time that the all cmode/vmode stuff was somewhat deprecated...
