Hi Vincent, apparently none of the people on the list has much idea about the troubles you have with your modem. What I can suggest is to look at your log files to search for more details on what goes wrong (but maybe you've already done that. In that case, forget my post.)
For instance to look at the messages that were logged on July 9 between 8:00:00 and 8:59:59 you can do: -------------- $ su Password: # cd /var/log/ # grep -hr "Jul 9 08:" * | sort | uniq | less -------------- If you're using ppp, you'll probably be interested in lines related to "pppd" (or "ppp" ? I don't remember),"chat", ... etc. Good luck!
