Well, not really. In fact, neither upstream nor we install the
upstream NEWS file by default.
If you would have tried the command from my previous e-mail, you would
have seen that this is not true. In the previous version of the
package,
we install upstream NEWS file as /usr/share/doc/chrony/changelog.gz
D’oh!
I will then revert commit e88f1460f3e.
But I agree that it would make sense to have it installed, so I’ll
add it to debian/docs in a future upload (2.x serie) unless you
absolutely want it for the release being discussed here.
As I would call this a regression, I rather have it fixed in our
current
upload. And I think we made a good choice in the past to actually use
the NEWS file as changelog file.
I definitely agree with you, let’s call that a silly brain fart on my
side. ;-)
