my wife has the same model and I upgraded it today to woody (OK, I made a backup of everything and deleted slink first ;-). With slink the Xircom CD3-10/100 network card worked, and with woody I have no problems. Maybe it is your nic which has problems. > I really do not want to have to run Windows on this machine, so any help > would be appreciated. > > I am including below the contents of /proc/pci and the last few messages in > dmesg. > > # cat /proc/pci > PCI devices found: > Bus 0, device 0, function 0: > Host bridge: Compaq Computer Corporation NorthStar CPU to PCI Bridge (rev 1). > Master Capable. But I see you have PCI bus 1 on which the NIC is. Do you have a docking station? The rest locks like the one I have here. > # dmesg (from loading of PCMCIA Card Services only) > > Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.1.33 > kernel build: 2.4.18-bf2.4 unknown > options: [pci] [cardbus] [apm] > Intel ISA/PCI/CardBus PCIC probe: > TI 1131 rev 01 PCI-to-CardBus at slot 00:0c, mem 0x7fffe000 > host opts [0]: [pci + serial irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 66/176] [bus 1/1] > host opts [1]: [pci + serial irq] [pci irq 11] [lat 66/176] [bus 2/2] > ISA irqs (scanned) = 3,4,7,9,10,15 PCI status changes > cs: cb_alloc(bus 1): vendor 0x10b7, device 0x6564 > 3c59x.c:v0.99Q 5/16/2000 Donald Becker, [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html > cs: cb_config(bus 1) > cs: IO port probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding 0x100-0x107 0x220-0x22f 0x250-0x257 >0x270-0x277 0x330-0x337 0x378-0x37f 0x388-0x38f 0x3c0-0x3df 0x408-0x40f 0x4d0-0x4d7 > cs: IO port probe 0x0230-0x024f: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0258-0x026f: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0278-0x032f: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0338-0x0377: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0380-0x0387: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0390-0x03bf: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x03e0-0x0407: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0410-0x04cf: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x04d8-0x04ff: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0800-0x08ff: excluding 0x800-0x83f 0x850-0x87f > cs: IO port probe 0x0880-0x08ff: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0a00-0x0aff: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0c00-0x0cff: excluding 0xc48-0xc4f 0xc68-0xc6f > cs: IO port probe 0x0c50-0x0c67: clean. > cs: IO port probe 0x0c70-0x0cff: clean. > cs: could not allocate 512 IO ports for CardBus socket 0 > cs: cb_release(bus 1) > Trying to free nonexistent resource <00000000-000001ff> > 3c575_cb: RequestIO: Out of resource > PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device . Oh and it is a combo card. Maybe you should edit /etc/pcmcia/config.opts to include the high ports (they worked with slink) and exclude irq 3.
