Hello eveyone. After "apt-get update;apt-get upgrade" ,especially "pcmcia-cs_3.1.29-1_i386.deb", something is changed. (it's because after "dpkg -i pcmcia-cs_3.1.29-1_i386.deb", the stuation is same as before.)
I also install hotplug{,-utils} pakage. 1, "/var/log/syslog" was changed. Insering CardBus NIC, the following appears. ------------------- <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar kernel: cs: cb_alloc(bus 21): vendor 0x13d1, device 0xab02 <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar kernel: PCI: Enabling device 15:00.0 (0000 -> 0003) <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar kernel: PCI: Setting latency timer of device 15:00.0 to 64 <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar kernel: eth0: ADMtek Comet rev 17 at 0x4800, xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, IRQ 11. <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar cardmgr[1217]: socket 1: CardBus hotplug device <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar /etc/hotplug/net.agent: invoke ifup eth0 <insert> Oct 28 19:48:21 darkstar /etc/hotplug/pci.agent: Modprobe and setup tulip for PCI slot 15:00.0 $eject$ Oct 28 19:48:44 darkstar kernel: cs: cb_free(bus 21) $eject$ Oct 28 19:48:44 darkstar /etc/hotplug/net.agent: invoke ifdown eth0 $eject$ Oct 28 19:48:44 darkstar /etc/hotplug/pci.agent: PCI remove event not supported ------------------- 2, I can't hear the sound "P-, P-" inserting CarBus NIC. ( pcmica card is OK. I can hear.) 3, And CardBus NIC doesn't work. ;-) On Sat, 27 Oct 2001 04:05:49 +0900 Kazuhiko Uebayashi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi, I'm Kazuhiko Uebayashi. > > I'm in trouble now in using Cardbus NIC(Network Interface Card). > > On kernel 2.2.19 with pcmcia-modules(make-kpkg from pcmcia-source), > I can use this Cardbus NIC. > > But after I change kernel to 2.4.12,it dosen't work well. > > /var/log/syslog says the following, > ------------------------ > Oct 27 03:55:01 darkstar kernel: cs: cb_free(bus 21) > Oct 27 03:55:01 darkstar cardmgr[201]: shutting down socket 1 > Oct 27 03:55:01 darkstar cardmgr[201]: executing: 'modprobe -r tulip_cb' > Oct 27 03:55:01 darkstar cardmgr[201]: executing: 'modprobe -r cb_enabler' > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar kernel: cs: cb_alloc(bus 21): vendor 0x13d1, device 0xab02 > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar kernel: PCI: Enabling device 15:00.0 (0000 -> 0003) > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: initializing socket 1 > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: socket 1: Linksys Etherfast 10/100 > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: executing: 'modprobe cb_enabler' > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: + modprobe: Can't locate module cb_enabler > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: modprobe exited with status 255 > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: module >/lib/modules/2.4.12/pcmcia/cb_enabler.o not available > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: executing: 'modprobe tulip_cb' > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: + modprobe: Can't locate module tulip_cb > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: modprobe exited with status 255 > Oct 27 03:55:03 darkstar cardmgr[201]: module /lib/modules/2.4.12/pcmcia/tulip_cb.o >not available > Oct 27 03:55:04 darkstar cardmgr[201]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: Resource >temporarily unavailable > --------------------------. > > I can't understand well what the log means. > > Is it possible to use Carbus NIC (ADMtek 985 Chip) > on kernel 2.4.12 without pcmcia-modules? > > Could you tell me how to use this CardBus NIC without pcmcia-modules? > > In case using pcmcia-modules, > Do I had better to remove pcmcia-net-driver support from kernel? > > -- > Kazuhiok Uebyashi > e-mail : [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
