Duh...must a been an aneurism.
I had been compiling my own kernel, but somehow I came to the conclusion
that I didn't need to/shouldn't enable the wireless stuff if I was using
drivers from another source. Re-reading (with my eyes open this time)
clarified that. Thanks...compiling now.
