My whole installation is just standard debian stable. I found this bug report from several months ago that seems relevant to my problem with calendar entries: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305711 And I'm not the only one with the problem. Here's a post from forums.debian.net: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=103846 Regarding the old bug report, I noticed that there is a file called "freebusyurls" in $HOME/.kde/share/apps/korganizer. If I delete that file the calendar entry problem disappears; but the "freebusyurls" file is recreated when I restart kontact--at least I think that is what's happening. I still have no idea why the address book isn't working.
