I have updated several packages from unstable this afternoon (I suspect of some libqt* packages, maybe libqt4-opengl?) two machines, one with ATI open driver and the other with Nvidia private driver, both systems with Xorg 7.4, and both machines crash when any effect is displayed (present windows, a simple dialog and shadow drawing, etc) unless I select Xrender, or I disble all the effects. I have tried a new user and it happens the same. If I tried to downgrade those libqt* stuff to the version in Squeeze I'd have to downgrade KDE to 4.3.1 for not breaking dependencies, so by now I'm working without desktop effects.
