That's your own fault! If you are that experienced that you can build
you own packages you probably should know that the vast majority of
packages from potato compiles fine under slink. It is as easy as 
'apt-get -b source <package>' If you have a recent enough apt to
recognize the source switch and a properly set up
/etc/apt/sources.list.

OTOH why not use the prebuild packages from unstable? They will not be
more unstable than newer upstream-source...
