Hi,

Thank you Timo for these statistics.

from September 2012 [1] until January 2025:

Over that period we get a 15.3% reject rate (nearly 1 in 6) for non-binNEW (6.6% for binNew, about 1 in 16) which is significant. The fact that the decision delays more than double in the case of rejects is possibly telling that it takes much more work to reject a package than to accept it (or that packages that are complicated to review are more likely to be rejected).

It would be interesting to check if the recent trend (e.g. last 2 or 3 years) is similar. If so, it's certainly worth the trouble to try to minimize the rejection rate to reduce the ftp masters workload and their processing delays. Having new packages sponsored and thoroughly reviewed by another DD could help to weed out common causes of rejection, and maybe in compensation if we don't want to make this mandatory for all packages the sponsored packages could be processed in priority by the ftp masters.

Cheers,
