But being "ideal" doesn't mean it should harm other workflows. If there is an easy-enough way to check if /etc is unmodified (that's the whole point of ucf), why not just use it rather than change everything? Again, it's not the *presence* of files in /etc that is the actual problem that is being addressed. While it's their presence that helps people who use stateful configuration. Samuel
