This should be avoided for future Debian events. My position is clear: I strongly support in-person meetings and thus I will do my best enabling active contributors to attend. If financial limitations are a barrier for active contributors, we should find ways to help. The amount of financial support needed can vary greatly depending on the region where the in-person meeting is happening. Therefore, please consider this as a rule of thumb, not a fixed (upper or lower) limit. More importantly, organizers should strive for realistic cost calculations in advance and communicate any changes as soon as possible. Finally, securing sponsors can be very helpful, and the probability of finding them is typically higher in regions with higher overall costs. Kind regards Andreas. -- https://fam-tille.de
