i resent the notion that either is bad practice. the problem merely reflects that Debian's concept of packages does not map well to other communities' concepts of packages (and i think i'm in line here with josh). our tried and tested concept of packages/libraries has been working for decades. young and emerging software development processes (might) have different needs. fgmasdr IOhannes
