You changed the package name, but not the SONAME. That doesn't sound right.
Changing the SONAME should be a matter of passing --enable-quantum-library-names to configure, as suggested by Bob Friesenhahn in #795102.
Also, now might be a good moment to move libGraphicsMagickWand to a seperate binary package.
