Further to my original report, I believe I have identified some other configuration errors which were left by the installer which were ralatively benign so did not notice them initially.
I'm not sure if this should be a new report or an addendum, but as it refers to the same install it would seem that a new report would have to repeat all of my earlier observations anyway. Please let me know if this is not the correct procedure. The issues are as follows: 1. Mysterious '/etc/modules' content The installation left the following content in the /etc/modules file: # /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time. # # This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded # at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored. ide-cd.load ide-disk.load ide-generic.load psmouse.load sbp2.load I have been unable to find any explanation for these entries with a '.load' suffix, which produce the following unsettling diagnostics during boot: 2. Not sure if this is normal behaviour, but it looks disturbing when keeping an eye on boot messages looking for problems.. Regards, DigbyT -- Digby R. S.
