I dont't know if this can help: (sorry I didn't read all the tread...) I installed sarge with the current (8 november) sarge installer. I had to boot with expert26, open a shell, modprobe ata_piix, modprobe libata. The the two maxtor 6Y080M0 where detected. My hardware: asus P5GD1 two maxtor 6Y080M0 sata ICH6
