Hey, thanks for bringing us (Xfce) in the loop. For Xfce desktop, there is no (at the moment) equivalent of either nm-applet or nm-connection-editor, so we use both features (although I guess nm-applet is the most used). I'm not sure if there are graphical frontend for systemd-networkd but that could be an alternative as well (never played with it though).
