Neither partman-md nor mdcfg currently "locks" any underlying devices. I have quickly reviewed all bug reports against these two packages and no bugs seem to mention this issue. Either the relevant installation reports were not sorted correctly or we can assume that it is a pretty minor issue and that our users did work around it themselves. I acknowledge that it is a real issue that should be fixed, but it might be minor compared to the various issues reported on RAID+crypto. Cheers, -- Jérémy Bobbio .''`.
