I'm pretty sure that the IDE-hang bug in that kernel would be triggered by any NIC, SONIC or otherwise, in the LC/Quarda 630. > > > > > > > > so if sonic driver is ok now, would that be a better / faster one > > > than the Asante or Farollon chips. have one asante card now, between > > > two machines. could buy a sonic. costs a little bit more. > > > > Either one should work fine, but I would expect the SONIC driver to be > > marginally faster since it uses a zero-copy algorithm. > > q630 also has a comm slot. there may be a card which works in here, but > I am not sure if the quadra is typeII or what the requirement is. still > it would be nice to get "full speed" that is 10Mbps rather than 800kbps. The spec sheet says the LC/Quadra 630 will accept one comm-slot or one LC-PDS card. I don't know which is faster, but my experience says the SONIC cards are more likely to be comm-slot. I'm pretty sure that comm-slot II is found only on powermacs. -f -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
