So why not binding sponsorship on a "working plan" as it is done for DebCamp.
Sure, people are also there to hear the talks and meet the people. But why not
asking for something like:

   - I want to hear talks about A and B to be able to work on X and Y later.
   - I want to meet C and D because I plan cooperation to do U and V.
   - In the time when no talks are done I try to make a test install on my
specific hardware to report some bugs.
   - I'll join the i18n team to enhance support of my native language.

IMHO the last two points are interesting for any user and do not require any
deeper knowledge in the first place. It is like always: If you want something
(free food) please give something. There are no *smaller* or *bigger* gifts to
Debian - just give according to your knowledge and abilities and share the food
with everybody.

Kind regards

           Andreas.
