Those docs are totally outdated. They were essentially correct up until 1.2.2 I believe (when the whole build.sh hack was replaced by autoconf)
You should go for dbmail-2.0rc8 instead. It is well (or at least much better) documented It has startup scripts for most major distros It has best-practice installation docs for the main MTA's Its generally faster and has several additional features (such as ACL support).
