hi
i just wanted to report that it was really a lack of system resources.
i upgraded the whole machine (celeron 1700, 256mb ram), installed the
cvs version of dbmail (~20.jan2k+3) and move my mail faster with the
imap-client than local.
does anyone of you fetch your mail with fetchmail and pipe them into
dbmail? a user has a pop3 account anywhere and wants to read his mail
by checking his dbmail account so i tried to figure out the correct
command line command but i had no luck.
any ideas? suggestions?
best regards, armin.

You need more RAM quite badly.. This is most likely the cause of the
slowness of the machine. Its swaping alot.
on each hd are 256mb of swapspace.
