i just wanted to report that it was really a lack of system resources. i
upgraded the whole machine (celeron 1700, 256mb ram), installed the cvs
version of dbmail (~20.jan2k+3) and move my mail faster with the
imap-client than local.
does anyone of you fetch your mail with fetchmail and pipe them into
dbmail? a user has a pop3 account anywhere and wants to read his mail by
checking his dbmail account so i tried to figure out the correct command
line command but i had no luck.
any ideas? suggestions?

slowness of the machine. Its swaping alot.
on each hd are 256mb of swapspace.
