They vary between Linux and BSD, some devices vary between hardware architectures... > Such information is hard to find without digging deep into the source files The standard ones are at https://kernel.org/pub/linux/docs/lanana/device-list/devices-2.6.txt It would be nice if that list was updated, but unfortunately the Linux Foundation acquired the Linux Standard Base many years ago, and LF is a 501c6 trade association (NOT a 501c3 non-profit) operating exclusively on behalf of its members, the same kind of legal entity as the Tobacco Institute and Microsoft's old "don't copy that floppy" sock puppet "Software Publisher's Association". Thus while https://www.lanana.org/ is technically still up, the "linux device link" list from that page went 404 shortly after the Linux Foundation acquisition completed, and has stayed that way ever since. The "Linux Standard Base" project was similarly ended by the Linux Foundation's mismanagement, ala https://lwn.net/Articles/658809/ almost a decade ago now. Microsoft became a Platinum member of the Linux Foundation 8 years ago. In other news, the Linux Foundation has platinum memberships. Rob
