I will do that but to be honest I don't really see that causing the
problem, isn't dns only checked when the protocol (I think it's the
protocol) needs to resolve something?

As for hardwiring, I can't test it I don't have a cable to use, and at
this point I need to hold off on making the purchase. it's a good
thought though and I'll try it when I can
