Agree. The 2010 version of Zen (Tencho no Igo 2) had a similar copy
(80%, instead of 78% :-), though.

Personal information: "Tencho no Igo 3" ("Tencho 3" for short) is
working fine in all English text on US version Windows 7, on my ThinkPad
X220s.
#Not officially guaranteed, though.

"Tencho 3" has the same functionality.

>> - Perfect basic functinality.
>> Possbile settings are: Three boardsizes, 9, 13 and 19. Handicap stones
>> from 0 to 9. Komi from -7.5 to 7.5.

>I would have prefered more flexible board sizes (ManyFaces allows all from
>5x5 to 19x19; Leela allows all until 38x38(.

Agree. "Tencho 3" allows the same bordsizes as "Saikyo no Igo 2012",
though Zen allows all boardsizes between 2 and 19. I want 11x11,
15x15 and 17x17 (and 21x21 if possible. Larger boardsizes than 19x19
may make the program slower and thus weaker, though).

>But more important would be to have more flexibility with komi and handicap
>stones: ManyFaces allows any values from -99 to +999 for komi, and any
>number of handicap stones.
>Extreme values are helpful when you want to play a game of "kill-all go":
>One side gets many handicap stones. The other side is winner when she gets
>one living group on the board.

I saw "kill-all go" played in TAAI last year. "Tencho 3" allows only
0.5 to 9.5 with step 1 and 0, no negative nor integral values.
#Japanese publishers seem very restrictive and conservative :(.

>One question to the Zen team:
>Will there be (hopefully still in 2012) a commercial version for the western
>people?

I have no infomation at all. Yamato told me a few years ago that the
publisher was seeking good oversea resellers. #Still nothing
happened :(.

>Thanks again for you detailled description and translation.

You're welcome,
Hideki
