I strongly agree with you here. At the risk of sounding like I’m suffering from WWDC intoxication, my reaction to what I’ve seen in this week’ videos is that Swift is now so much more compelling than Obj-C (a language I love, still) that there’s no contest. Swift also makes C# seem like a confused mess, even though both languages share a lot of concepts. During the discussions we’ve had on this list, I’ve wondered if lurkers are put off Swift by the WTF moments we’ve been focusing on. In my (ongoing) experience with Swift, there’s an initial 3-week period of feeling confused, a 3-month period of feeling lost, and a 3-year period (perhaps) of retooling our brains for its new paradigms. I also wonder if Swift is going to meet the Graham Cox test: “Will Graham use it?” I’m picking on Graham (without giving offense, I hope) because he’s a crusty (though lovable) retrovert who’s still doing manual memory management *just in case* ARC isn’t doing things right. _______________________________________________ Cocoa-dev mailing list (Cocoa-dev@lists.apple.com) Please do not post admin requests or moderator comments to the list.
