Joe asked "How are we all doing this spring?" Touche' is doing great! It's in the best condition ever. It sits in its slip ready to cruise east to Pensacola or beyond.
Its owner, however, is not great. A few weeks ago, I was cleaning and prepping Touche' to head east. I had crew scheduled. I was excited to try out the new solar panels for some extended anchoring out around the Gulf Islands National Seashore. The weather was looking awesome. Cool nights and southerly winds for anchoring on the north side of the islands. Then I slipped while cleaning the boat. Caught myself. Didn't think much about it until a couple days later when I developed sciatica type pain and significant weakness in my right leg. Deemed it unsafe to move around the boat with 1.25 of 2 legs. MRI showed a bulging disc and a couple other issues. Boo! Got a spinal steroid shot to kill the pain. Surgery this Thursday. 3-6 month recovery. I missed 2-3 weeks of some of the best cruising weather I've seen in recent years. Really bummed. By the time I recover, the summer heat will be here. 😡🤬☹️ Arrrrgh!! -- Dennis C.
