I think a lot of them just do have silencers. They expect low contamination and I think that's all I've ever had like through the years. I think my Yanmar just has a screen over the turbo. Niel's point, about 15 years ago, I bought a Kubota four-cylinder diesel for the boat, and a Kubota 3 cylinder diesel mower. After a few years, I noticed changing the oil, that the boat engine oil was always clean as a whistle, and the lawn mower oil was black like my old trucks used to be.
