Last I checked into moving a boat, it was something like $4/mile plus rig/unrig
at each end.
It will probably come out to somewhere between 50 and 100 percent of what the
boat is worth. I know of someone that used a low-bid carrier from an online
site and the story was epic, but not in a good way. It involved the boat owner
hiring welders to fix the truck in mid-trip and dodging cops because the driver
was not legally licensed.

If your friend is on a low budget, she really can’t afford to deal with
shenanigans like that. Also note from everything I have heard from my SoCal
buddies lately you can’t just show up and live-aboard like you can here.

She is an accomplished sailor and she lives on the boat now, has for a long
time, as I said in my last sentence. Living on a boat at a marina is not as
demanding as single-handed sailing. She sailed the boat from Seattle to the
east coast but that was some time ago.
