I just today paid the annual $1,000,000 CAD liability-only premium for my 1978
C&C27 on the Canadian side of Lake Erie. It was $70.20 CAD. Desjardins
Insurance, which bought out State Farm here a few years ago.

The 1980 C&C36 in Central Florida on the other hand, costs over $800.00 US for
300,000 US liability with Progressive. That is with the hull valued at 5,000
and a 2,000 dollar deductible. (I know, but for some reason, they would not
write me a liability-only policy. Without the deductible, the premium would
have been over $1,200.00 US. They refused to write a liability-only policy
ostensibly because I live out of state.)

Your mileage may vary.

One thing you can do is just get liability insurance. Your boat won't be
covered, but you'll be insured if you damage another person's property.
