I use Scotch 3M heavy duty clear shipping tape.  (not the one with string 
re-enforcement)
You'll find it everywhere at Walmart, Acme, Staples, CVS, Walgreens.  Outside, 
it should last for a few months until the UVs get it.  I also use it when I 
overdrill holes.  I tape the underside of the hole before filling with 
thickened epoxy and it leaves a nice smooth surface.
